The season of 2020 saw our horses win 29 races across Norway and Sweden, earning 6,4 million NOK.We had 3 classic wins: EVEREST VOICE (Stall Perlen) won the Swedish 2000 Guineas, NORDIC (Stall Perlen) won the Norwegian 2000 Guineas and SENESCHAL (Stall EOS) brought home the Swedish St. Leger.
The 2-year-olds showed plenty of ability from first to last with ZERAPHINE (Bo Tommy Nygård) winning the Eckbo Legats Vandrepokal in early August, followed up by great performances by THUNDEREY, VOIX D’AMIE, NO LIE, MISS HAVEN, LIKE A KING and NO SHORT CUTS – all owned by Stall Perlen.
THUNDEREY went through her 2yo campaign as undefeated, winning both the Amacita and Svealand at Bro Park, while NO SHORT CUTS ended his season with two wins including the Skåneland and now winters as the highest rated 2yo horse in Scandinavia.
NO LIE was shortly beaten in the Swedish Winterfavourites and is now the highest ranked 2yo filly.
As a whole, our 2yo crop showed a great bunch of class, and we have very high expectations ahead of next year’s classic races. Unfortunately none of our 3-year-olds coped with the dirt surface at Jägersro.
They were magnificent on turf throughout the season, though, but still need to improve a lot in order to earn their place in next year’s elite of older horses.
NOUVELLE LUNE (Stall Perlen) was injured early in the season but will back in full action again in 2021.
Also our stable’s first jockey, Jan-Erik Neuroth, sustained a terrible injury back in June, but Sandro De Paiva and Andreas Tapia Dalbark grabbed their chance and did well to conquer big races for us.
Now we have 10 great yearlings by international top sires being broken in abroad, and we’re excited to welcome them to Norway in 2021.
During 2020 most of our horses were hit with respiratory infections, which also contributed to a break in their training routines and fluctuating form.
A big thank you to Dansk Galop, Svensk Galopp and Norsk Jockeyklub for their effort to keep racing going during difficult times.
Also a warm thank you to all our customers who continue to supply the stable with great horses, to our stable team for their marvelous effort and to Peter and Ross Doyle Bloodstock for sourcing the right talents.
Finally the time has come to wish all our friends and supporters a Happy New Year – with a great wish to see you back at the races in 2021!
